Tahan Na

“Tahan na.” is a line my Lola Cecilia told me when I broke down to her for the first time. I did not have anybody like her then when I felt these pains, but the safety she is allowed me to receive those two words with what she means. She would brush my hair with her fingers, gently tap my head that was her lap gently as I sniffle with sadness or weariness. With the softness and confidence I receive as security, I’ve always felt in her tone what she means.

A play with its closeness to the word Tahanan which means Home and/or shelter, and now in someway also purposefully in semblance to Tadhana which means fate, it’s born to express the Love as she means. Like a mother to a child, and a child to a mother- and to finally remember that there is Home that holds us together.

Home was never meant to be made by man, but we are meant to honor it.

Our lives have always been shared.

All that we have came from the Earth first be it music, dance, art, ideas, inspiration, writing, language, food, materials, money, technology, and more. Somewhere along the way, there has been a big disconnection to it that has deduced Earth as commodity, a mere resource, a number, a concept, and a “thing” rather than a Soul, the truth of it being our shared Home with all its living beings, and a Life that gives us our lives, and the ones we keep make.

A simple principle of Love as devotion, this is a space for a revolution that understands it is all about remembering- each other, ourselves, the next generation, the ones before, and how we can do what actually makes each one of us Free: happily lean on each other, give to each other, and create the world together.

Power is us.
